Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Windsor-Essex County Health Unit: 
For all tobacco related inquires such as: 
* Complaints 
* Smoke-Free Ontario Act education materials or signage 
* Quit smoking programs and information 
 
Telehealth Ontario: 
* Provides smoking cessation supports and information by phone. It is a free and confidential service for health advice and information 24/7 in more than 300 languages. 
* Callers are supported through follow-up calls when additional supports and coaching is required. 
 
Smokers' Helpline: 
* Online quit program with quit tools, self-directed quit programming and a supportive community smokershelpline.ca, Click Here for Details  
* Text messaging for interactive support and scheduled messages to help cope with cravings. Text iQuit 123456 for support. 
 
Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017  
Under the Act the smoking of tobacco and cannabis and vaping of any substance is prohibited in the following areas: 
* Enclosed indoor public spaces, workplaces, and workplace vehicles 
* Common areas of a multi-unit dwelling such as an apartment of condo building 
* The entire property of a hospital  
* Long-term care homes and within 9 metres of the entrance or exit 
* Child care centres and home child care locations 
* On and within 20 metres of the perimeter of children’s playgrounds 
* On and within 20 metres of sporting areas, spectator areas adjacent to sporting areas 
* On and within 20 metres of the perimeter of school grounds 
* On and within 20 metres of the perimeter of recreation facility property  
* On and within 9 metres of the perimeter bar and restaurant patios 
 
Municipal By-Laws in Windsor-Essex County  
Several local municipalities have passed by-laws that are better protecting their residents and provide even more smoke/vape-free spaces for residents to enjoy.
