Description (Service) | Not-for-profit, charitable organization providing a broad range of evidence-based and outcome-driven community services in London and District * organization has a strong history of helping individuals and families who are at risk of, or who have come into conflict with the law * provides services on a continuum from preventing involvement with the law, to arrest and detention, to successful reintegration back into the community. The John Howard Society of London and District provides:
Boullee, Huron and Kipps Lane Program - Offers counselling, advocacy, and referrals to other community agencies for youth and families who reside in the three subsidized housing projects * identifies high risk behaviours and develops an effective intervention plan to ensure that youth are able to complete school successfully and graduate to an apprenticeship, college, university or employment * offers school-based counselling services to youth attending Montcalm Secondary School Children's Groups - Offers a group for girls and a group for boys (5 to 12 years old) in the Huron, Boullee and Kipps Lane communities * children explore other cultures, racism, discrimination, bullying, healthy relationships, family violence, safety planning, making positive choices and building self-esteem Direct Accountability Program - Alternative to prosecution for eligible individuals over the age of 18 who have been charged with minor criminal offences * program involves accused persons being held accountable by community-based actions Indigenous Services Program - Delivers culturally relevant probation and parole for Indigenous adults and youth Supported Housing of Perth Program (SHOPP) - Highly collaborative Housing First program serving the City of Stratford, Perth County, and St. Marys * program provides housing assistance and wrap around support services to people who are experiencing homelessness Women's Group - Weekly support group for women who have a loved one involved in the criminal justice system Services and Programs:
